"All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit." Mat 28:19-20
Aim:
To practically demonstrate that evangelism begins with a conversation. Just by undertaking the act of creating conversation, through ANY medium, you have taken the critical first step to revealing Christ to those around you.
Steps:
1. Get everyone to get out their mobile phones
2. Get them to type in a pre-planned message (example below) that requires a response from the receiver of the message and send it to 5 people who are not at church.
3. Instruct people to leave their phones on (with sound turned on) for the remainder of the service. If they get a response, they should reply with the answer, or if the phone rings, they should take the call.
Results:
A cacophony of mobile sounds for the remainder of the service that will reinforce the following ideals:
(a) The beginnings of evangelism start with very natural and everyday processes. In this case, the use of a mobile phone.
(b) The conventions of church and church services can be broken (i.e. sounds of mobile phones in the middle of church)
(c) St Paul's encourages action and not passivity of the congregation during services.
